Katie & Mike’s pre-wedding photoshoot, Shearsby Bath Hotel, Leicestershire

Shearsby Bath Hotel in Leicestershire is the lovely and exclusive venue chosen by Mike and Katie for their October wedding.  The six months since I first met them have simply flown by, it’s difficult to believe that their wedding day is rapidly approaching.  I met them again yesterday evening at Shearsby Bath to discuss the schedule for their big day.  This pre-wedding meeting is vital and I always include a complimentary pre-wedding photoshoot as part of the service I offer to my clients.

The photoshoot is the best way for any couple to find out for themselves how my relaxed approach to wedding and portrait photography will put them at ease so that they can look forward to their day in the knowledge that their Leicestershire wedding photography is in safe hands with Steve Walton Photography Ltd. Each of my couples is invited to choose an image from their pre-wedding photoshoot which will be professionally printed and mounted ready for framing, free of charge.

Mike & Katie are a lovely, fun-loving couple and Linda and I are really looking forward to their wedding day.  Well done, guys, it was great to see you again!

Ed & Claire’s Wedding. Sketchley Grange Hotel, Burbage.

Sunday 8th August dawned sunny and warm and this was the date of Ed and Claire’s wedding.  As usual, I joined Claire and the girls as they were getting ready to make the short journey from Claire’s parental home to All Saint’s Church, Gilmorton in the lovely Leicestershire countryside.  Claire is one of those special brides who likes to play for the camera, a touch of rock chick with a lot of style, I knew from our very first meeting that this was going to be a super-fun day, and it was!

The ceremony at Gilmorton was a very intimate affair with a super minister who allowed me to photograph from the front.  This is unusual in England and it’s a welcome break from the rigid rules which are sometimes applied by the clergy.  I have never understood why couples should be deprived of the most meaningful images of their special day, I can only assume that the past behaviour of some ‘wedding photographers’ has tarnished this part of the ceremony for those of us who take our professionalism rather more seriously.  For once, the rules were relaxed and it was a joy to witness and capture Ed & Claire’s marriage ceremony from a good vantage point.

After the ceremony and having been covered in confetti, Ed & Claire left for their reception at Sketchley Grange Hotel near Hinckley.  The whole day was fun and relaxed with a great atmosphere, Claire made a gorgeous bride for Ed and with her cheeky sense of humour it was a privilege to share their day as their wedding photographer.  Well done you two, it was an absolute pleasure working for you!

Sam and Ross’s wedding, Bosworth Hall, Market Bosworth.

Sam and Ross’s Leicestershire wedding took place on 7th August at lovely St Peter’s Church, Market Bosworth and their reception followed at adjacent Bosworth Hall.  Despite a torrential summer downpour soon after the happy couple left the church, the weather was kind and they had a wonderful day.

The day started when I joined Sam at her Twycross home as she was getting ready with her bridesmaids.  After lots of informal photography as the girls were preparing, I left to join Ross and his groomsmen at St Peter’s church, Market Bosworth to await the arrival of Sam.  The church was magnificent and beautifully decorated with candles, the ceremony was a very emotional affair for Sam & her family but everyone present was there for Sam & Ross.

The couple left the church in their bridal car for a short drive around Market Bosworth as everyone made their way over to Bosworth Hall  for the drinks reception and to await their arrival. Although the rain was torrential for a while, it soon passed and the sun came out again for the rest of the day and Sam & Ross and their guests were able to fully enjoy Bosworth Hall and the grounds.

A wonderful day for a very special couple!

Emer and Shane’s Wedding. St Joseph’s Church and Radisson Blu Hotel, Sligo.

Taking a break from Leicestershire wedding photography, I had another Irish Wedding Photography commission on July 16th which took me to the pleasant town of Sligo to photograph Emer & Shane’s wedding.  The ceremony took place at the very modern St Joseph’s Church in the town and was attended by around 300 guests.  After the ceremony, the couple elected to go to Rosses Point, a local beauty spot close by on the beautiful Sligo coast.  It was a warm, sunny and very blustery day, as can be  seen from the images below.  We had a lot of fun with Emer’s fantastic wedding dress flying in the stiff breeze.  A bride who was up for creative images, Emer was a dream to photograph!

After some time on the dunes above the beach, we went on to the very old ruins of  Sligo Abbey for more photographs.  The Abbey is very dramatic and atmospheric and the light coming through the old cloisters was wonderful.  It was a haven of tranquility after the windswept mayhem on the dunes!

Emer & Shane’s reception followed at the Radisson Blu Hotel, just outside Sligo.  A wonderful day and a great example of why I enjoy photographing weddings in Ireland so much, you were fantastic, guys!
